Heesun Lee   "Redefined"

_DSC0097T.jpgHeeSun Lee is not your average Hip Hop/ Spoken word artist. Born in Seoul, Korea on June 4th, 1983, she was sadly abandoned by her birth family. She was then placed into a foster home, and later adopted when she was four months old. She then moved to Staten Island NY. Growing up in Staten Island started out easy until her teenage years arrived and she began struggling with her identity.

As a result of her adoption she started to feel that parts of her life were missing and that fueled her desire to  find a way to express her emotions. She started writing poetry at the age of thirteen, and then as hip-hop began to influence her style, she took an interest in writing songs. Her heart was placed on paper every time she picked up a pen, and every battle she was fighting became evident in her rhymes. After her grandmother passed away in 1999, she gave her life to Christ, and that sparked the beginning of her music career.

Heesun Lee started taking her passion more seriously, as she performed at local church events and school functions. During her freshman year of college at Rutgers University, she linked up with a ministry in Elmhurst, Queens, and recorded, "It's On," her first single. After that, she started developing her craft all over NYC, performing at detention centers, block parties, church events, and colleges. She got heavy rotation at the Rutgers, Newark campus radio station, and began performing at her college on a daily basis.

In 2004, she came out with her own EP Album and mixtape, and featured on 2 Compilation CDs. Heesun was a supporter and performed several times for the "You Gotta Believe," a cable show which promoted adoption for teenagers. In 2005, she got the opportunity to perform at Flavor Fest in Tampa, FL, where some of the biggest Gospel MC's minister annually. Between 2006-2007, personal issues were taking a toll on Heesun's spiritual life and it caused her to take a break from _DSC0097T.jpgministry. Through it all, she still managed to graduate with a B.A. in Communication.  She eventually decided to move on and start things over. In the middle of 2007, she met with Rock from Jahrock'n Productions, and together they produced her first full-length album called, "Re-defined."  Since then God has allowed HeeSun to perform in front of an audience of 16,000  people and grace the same stage as Hillsongs, Canton Jones, Hezekiah Walker, Lacrae and many more great artist at events such as Rev Gen and Battle Cry. She has also been featured on a compilation album with legendary MC Lyte and has a music video with HBO’s Def poetry Jam Shanelle Gabriel. Not only has God open doors for her artistic ministry but as of last year she has gotten married and is now a Mrs.  She is currently working on a new project so make sure you are looking out for other great things God has in store for  her to accomplish.

You can look forward to seeing her this year at events like SonShine Festival, Flavor Fest, and much more! Visit the web site www.HeeSunLee.com and stay tuned…
